While sprinklers are efficient in covering large areas of land, they also have disadvantages like favoring plant rot and high price. The hose irrigation system is the least expensive system and easy to use but it can waste a large amount of water in the process.rclma The drip irrigation system is the most effective of all and sometimes the most costly. Start off by planning the system. Mark your garden on graph paper, representing the size and plants. The drawing will help you position the system efficiently. Make sure to plan the irrigation process for each plant, because some require more water and some less.

Approximate the number of hoses, sprinklers or drip emitters you require. Make sure to place each emitter about 2 feet apart one from another. In case one emitter clogs, the others can still do their job efficiently. Get the required components. Dig up ditches and lay the system in them. How deep the ditches will be depends on how harsh the winter frost is in your area.

Attach the irrigation emitters to the main water supply and position the tubing around the yard making sure it reaches all the plants. The emitters close to the drip line must be placed on stakes. Don’t forget to mulch the tubes.
