Livestock water trough building

Assuring water to livestock is a good way of increasing their productivity. For example, cows will give a greater quantity of milk if have a constant source of water. Troughs are an effective water storing device for livestock.

They can be build out of wood and nails, or can consist of containers.

Begin by acquiring a large container that will be used to store water. Depending on how many animals you have, the container will vary in size. Plastic or metal containers are effective enough. Next you must position the container in a place where all animals have access to it. Connect a hose to a sprout nearby. Position the other end of the hose in the container. Make sure the container is clean and then fill it with water.

  • Check the water regularly in cold weather, to prevent it from freezing.
  • Activity, diet, temperature and pregnancy are all factors that determine the amount of water needed for the animals.
  • Prevent bacteria growth by cleaning the container regularly.
