Wicks for plant watering
The wick watering method consists of using small nylon or cotton threads. One end of the wick is placed into the soil, while the other is placed into a water container. This irrigation method is called a capillary action, because the water is pulled from the container to the plants.rclma
Begin by cleaning the water container that needs to be placed next to the plants. Let the water sit overnight if it has chemicals like chlorine in it, to avoid burning the plant roots. The wick must reach the bottom of the water container and halfway into the ground. Make a hole in the wick with a pencil or a chopstick. Dig small holes in the specific areas and then put the wicks in them, covering them up. Then, place the other ends of the wicks in the water container.
Inspect the plants and the container regularly. See how much water the plants drink and inspect of the wickers are functioning as they should. The soil around the plants must be moist. Any faulty wicks must be replaces. Make sure to clean the water container regularly in order to avoid unpleasant surprises like pests and algae. If you wish to use fertilizers, just dilute them into the water container.
