The right mortar
You will need to buy mortar from a professional home improvement shop. You need to choose from a wide range of mortar types, careful to select the one that best suits your needs, because not any mortar will for the exterior masonry. Using the instructions from the producer, mix the mortar until it has the right consistency: smooth and equally moist. Take the mortar on the roof using a bucket and take a trowel with you too.
Mortar replacement
Clear away any damaged or loose mortar. Using a trowel, apply the mortar to the clear zones where the damaged or loose mortar was. Smooth the new mortar using the edge of the trowel. Repeat the process until the mortar is properly fixed.
