Cleaning a chimney

A chimney will accumulate soot, dust dirt and debris in time, especially if it is used often. They can cause big problems, so the chimney must be regularly cleaned. Hiring a professional to do the cleaning job is easier for you but more expensive.

You can accomplish this task by yourself, with the proper tools of course.

Chimney sweeping

First of all you have to choose a proper brush for the job. It mustn’t be too small because it will not sweep the interior of the chimney properly but also it doesn’t have to be too big so it won’t fit into the chimney. A chimney liner will have one of these 4 dimensions: 4 inches, 6 inches, 8 inches and 10 inches. All you need now is a ladder to get on the roof and start sweeping the chimney.
