Emery cloth

A very good decision is to change your old thermostat for a programmable one. It is easy to install by you and is a match for the standard central air and other heating systems.

Follow our advices and you will have a running, new thermostat in no time:

  • Turn off the power of the furnace.
Remove the cover of the current thermostat.
  • Disconnect any wire you find and bend them in order not to fall back into place. Put a label on each wire with the letters next to every of their terminals.
  • Whilst you remove the thermostats’ base, hold the wires. You must attach to them a small weight to keep them from slipping into the hole.
  • Tear off an inch of casing from the end of each wire – if this hasn’t been done before. The loose copper needs a rub from a cleaning metal material like a steel-wool sponge or an emery cloth.
  • You are now holding the new apparatus. Separate the cover from the base. Unfurl the wires and curl them through the base, until they are placed under a terminal block. Reattach the weigh to the wires – they must remain in place.
  • There will be a hole behind the thermostat. Stuff it with paper. It will protect the machine from drafts. Place, with the help of a level, the base of the deivce against the wall. You will need to visualize where to place the screws, so mark the spots with a pencil.
  • Screw the base. Use achor screws for drywall or the model for wood.
  • Now, we return to the wires. They must be connected. Look in the manual and proceed as you are advised.
  • It is good to have a suplimentary power supply so install batteries to the device.
  • Attach the cover and turn the power on.
  • The manufacturer’s instructions will guide through the thermostat programs and informe you which one to use.
