Gutter efficinecy
Copper gutters are beautiful, but in time they will wear out. They are best to be replaced, as repairing them is more expensive.
Choosing gutters
There are many types of gutters to choose from.
Installing gutters
You will be more successful if you have at least one more person that can help you. You will need a couple of ladders too. It is not a one man project.
Materials you will need
- Chalk Line
- Measuring Tape
- Ladders
- Nails
- Seamless Gutter Lines
- Hangers
- Downspouts
- Corner Mounts
- Measure how long will your new gutters need to be. Keep in mind that if your house has more stories, you will need gutters for each of them. Count the corners to know how many corner mounts you’ll need.
- Buy the gutter system with the right length, and also buy corner mounts, downspouts and hangers.
- Make sure you find out the drop you need for the gutters to work as they should. This usually works for calculating one or two inches of drop at every 40 feet of house. Mark the line, where the gutters will be, with chalk.
- When starting the installation you must begin either from a corner, which will not have a downspout, or from the middle of the roof line, if all corners will have downspouts. Position a hanger and hammer it into place. Hangers are usually placed 34 to 30 inches away one from another.
- After installing the corner mounts, you have to attach the gutter line to the hangers installed earlier. You must begin with the corners of the roof line. Gutters will snap into place on the hangers when installed. Install the downspouts using the provider’s instructions, once your gutters are in place.
Summary
Copper gutters are beautiful but will wear out in time. Many other cheap gutters are available on the market today. The task of installing them will take some time, but it’s nothing you can’t do with a little help. Make sure you follow the instructions and everything should be just fine.
