Pre-emergent weed killer

Before using any herbicide to kill the weeds on your lawn or garden, you should take in consideration some things.

Pre-Emergent or Post-emergent?

It is important that you know which type to use and when to use it. Pre-emergent herbicide is used in the spring growing season.

This way all the seeds of the weeds are killed before they germinate. Also, this type of herbicide should only be used when the temperature is lower than 60 degrees. Post-emergent herbicide are used to kill any weed after it has begun growing. It should be used when the temperature is between 60 and 90 degrees.

Conditions of weather

Wind or even a small breeze can carry the herbicide away from the targeted weed and affect plants that you didn’t want killed. This is available even if you are using a selective herbicide. Also, if there’s a high chance of rain, call the spraying off for later, as water can make the solution less effective.

Herbicides are great for getting rid of weeds,  but are dangerous not just for other plants, but for children and pets too,  so you must use it at your own risk.
