Rigid stainless steel chimney liner
When installing a flexible chimney liner, you need the right equipment and instructions. The task itself isn’t difficult and is crucial for the well functionality of the chimney.
Safety
Safety is important when working on the roof.
Assistance
You will need at least 3 people to help you. Each will help guide a portion of the flue down the chimney gently not to damage or bend it.
Tools and materials needed
- rope
- metal backed tape
- heavy tin snips or a hacksaw
- protective gloves
- silicone sealant
- caulk gun
- screws and
- drill
- liner
- insulation kit
- wire mesh
Measurements
Measure from the point where the heating appliance is to the top of the chimney and add 1 inch to the measurements. Make the proper cuts. It is better to have more material to work with than less which would mean you have to start over again.
Placement
Take a rope and attach it to the bottom of the liner. Feed the liner into the chimney. Using that rope, the person at the bottom will be able to guide it through the chimney without damaging it.
