Subterranean bait for termites

Subterranean termites help decompose rotten wood, turning it into humus soil. They may be beneficial for nature, but they can do serious damage to wood structures that are still in use, like houses and commercial centers. If you find signs of termite damage in your house, you must take the necessary precautions to avoid a serious infestation.

Termite infestation signs

Before you can get rid of the termites, you must search for signs of damage and find out where they nest. If left undisturbed, they can do serious damage, without you even noticing until it is too late. Common signs of termites:

  • Mud tubes, that act like shelters for termites, can be usually found along cracks, or behind baseboards and sidings, sometimes even underneath the floor.
  • Damaged or rotten areas of the floor or other wooden area is a good sign of termite presence.
  • Swarmers or termites with wings that come out of mud tubes are a clear sign of a termite infestation.

Food source

Cut off the food source of the termites by pressure treating the wood items on your property and keeping any wood elements off the soil. This way you will control the infestation and prevent them from feeding. Treating the soil with chemicals will also help.

Termiticides

Apply termiticides to the cracks and holes in the wood and also to the interior and exterior areas of the foundation walls.

Foam and baiting

Apply foam and set up a baiting system to soil-filled areas of the porch to the chimneys and slab ovens. Make sure no termites remain alive, as they can infest the house again if some survive.
