Winter preparations for patio furniture

Depending on the time of the year and the type of the outdoor patio furniture, each of theses requires different cleaning and preparation in order to resist the winter weather.

Wood furniture

A fairly inexpensive way of cleaning wood furniture is using a soft brush and some wood cleaner that can be bought at just about any hardware shop. Make sure the area is dry before applying any finish.

Also, using soap and water to wash the furniture one a week is a good way of protecting your furniture. All you need is a cloth or some paper towels and a pan of warm water. After cleaning, use another pan of clean water to rinse the furniture. Make sure the furniture is dry when you are done.

Iron furniture

In winter time, steel furniture should be deposited into places like sheds or garages. If this is not possible, you must cover the furniture with plastic tarps. The furniture must be dry when covered, because otherwise, mold can occur. The chair or bench cushions of the furniture must be brought in the house on rainy and winter weather to extend their lifespan.

Outdoor furniture covers

Outdoor furniture covers used in rainy and winter weather are made to cover up furniture sets with either 4 or 6 chairs and can be oval, round or rectangular. These covers can be used for high-back chairs also and are completely waterproof. The resistant vinyl their made of makes the covers withstand rough weather. Vinyl covers are UV treated and will protect your furniture regardless of weather conditions.
