Flowering plant

Not only a medicinal plant good for sedatives and insomnia, the purple passion vine can beautify your garden like any other flowering plant, with delicate purple flowers and in some cases edible fruit; some even bloom fragrant flowers used to make perfumes. They hang in beautiful cascades from hanging baskets in gardens all around the world as it is adaptable to most atmospheric conditions.

So if you want one or more for yourself you need to choose a spot where it will get sunlight, but not too strong – partial shade is best, with neutral soil (though it can adapt to slightly alkaline or acidic soil too) watered regularly in such a way that all the water is soaked up before the next watering.

A good neutral fertilizer, with pH balanced at 2-1-3, should be added regularly as well, preferably once every 30 days.

When spring comes you should trim it and every September you should repot your purple passion vine, because it will start growing (it has a fast growing rate) and it will soon over-grow the previous pot. If you want to make it look busy, you can make ridges around it when it first starts bearing flowers.

It you want a baby plant from your own samples, you can do so by dividing of the offsets, cuttings or seeds. Simply remove the pulp and leave the seeds to dry; fully matured seeds are brown.
