Garage door

The garage door opener is the system controlling the movement of the door and it can be electric or remote control, operated with the help of a power unit. This unit activates the chain which controls the trolley. There is a quick release mechanism which switches to manual in case the power is off.

Now, if the garage door reverses upon hitting the floor the problem might be with the close limit switch of the power unit easily solved by adjusting if. However, if the door reverses while closing, the problem is with the closing mechanism which does not allow the door to close properly. Check the mechanism and make necessary adjustments.

If the door does not open properly, even after you’ve tried the limit switch, check the tracks for dust deposits and the engine itself. If it does not open smoothly or it’s slower it might be getting low on lubricant. Clean the tracks before applying new lubrication.

If the door does not respond at all to the remote control, you need to check everything, from the tracks to the power unit. Now make sure the battery is working and test the signal – you might need to replace the remote control.

If you have an opener indicator system it will show you where the problem is, but for complicated situations is best to have a professional take care of it.
