About termite stakes

Termite stakes are an effective way of telling if your house deals with a termite infestation. Stake needs to be put underground 2-3 feet away from the foundation and 10 feet from one another. This way you will find out the location where termites are most active and can treat the issue later on.

Stake bait

The termite stake is actually a small plastic tube or “stake” which is filled with treated wood. It is about 4 inches long and 1 inch in diameter. It also has side holes to allow termites to come in the tube and leave it.

Using termite stakes is simple but it takes a lot of time before the effect is noticed. When termites eat the bait and go back to the colony, the colony will be exposed to the treated bait and will slowly be killed. This process can take from 3 days to 2 weeks. Make sure you check on the baits every 2 -3 months to see if it is effective. Also, you must frequently replace the bait if it has been eaten. This will increase the effectiveness of the killing.

Using termite stakes is not only cheap, but also efficient. Getting rid of a termite colony as fast as you can will save you repair money later on.
