Effective French drain

If you are having water problems in your garden or home, maybe you should be considering the advantages and disadvantages of a drainage system. There aren’t really disadvantages for a drainage system, just differences between different systems.


Toxic materials

Whenever a flood occurs, there is the danger of toxic contamination.

This is not a thing to overlook, but needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. With a drainage system in place you wouldn’t need to think of what to do next, because the drain will get rid of all the excess water, thus avoiding the toxic contamination of your water supply.

This is what drainage systems do: get rid of  the water overflow. All the water gathered from rain fall will be gathered by drainage system, thus avoiding your plants to get over watered and die. Muddy soils can cause erosion. A drainage system will balance the water flow and keep your yard not too dry but not too wet.



One of the most inconvenient things about drainage systems is the maintenance. This is a must because if the drainage system gets clogged, then it will not work properly. Check for blockages and debris that may be blocking the flow of water.


The problems with trees is that their roots will not work very well with drainage systems. The main issue is related to the roots of the trees. To ensure proper drainage, you will need to make sure that there are not trees near the trench of the drain. You may need to divert the flow of water or move a few trees, if possible.
